The first acts for this year’s scaled-back Folk Festival have been announced.

The event will take place in Bannerman Park on August 8th.

Due to the smaller scale of this year’s event, the Folk Arts Society says this year’s festival is number 49-and-a-half, with plans to celebrate their 50th anniversary next year when they hope to be on more stable ground financially.

The acts for this year include:

Kelly Russell, Linda Byrne, Jim Payne & Fergus O’Byrne, Anita Best & Pamela Morgan, and Andy Jones, as well as newer faces like Soup’ du Jour, Eagle Women, the NL Latin Band, and Andrew Kagumba.

More acts will be announced over the coming days on the Society’s social media.

They note that there will be no beer tent, food concessions, or other vendors at the festival this time around, so people are being encouraged to bring along their own food and non-alcoholic drinks.
