Residents of the Lake Melville area and coast of Labrador can expect a higher than usual presence of the Canadian Armed Forces starting next week.

It’s part of Operation NANOOK-TAKUNIQ, a training exercise involving members of the Canadian Rangers.

The operation is in support of the federal government’s sovereignty and security efforts and helps with the Canadian Armed Forces’ understanding of the north.

Residents may notice Canadian Ranger patrols in and around Happy Valley-Goose Bay and along the coast from Cartwright to Nain.

The operation will take place from August 2nd to the 10th.
