Berry lovers are making the most of the short-lived strawberry harvest, coming out in droves to pick their own strawberries at Lester’s Farm Market on Brookfield Road in St. John’s.
Chris Lester says it’s been very busy as people come out to take advantage of the very short season.
So busy in fact, that Lester’s has had to establish parking restrictions along Brookfield Road.
“You often hear people say ‘I was going to go picking tomorrow’ and then the next thing you know, people are saying ‘…strawberry season is gone!’ So, when it does arrive, it’s definitely pretty busy here. This year is a really, really good year for strawberries, they are super tasty. I don’t know if it’s the cold nights, or what’s going on, but they’re absolutely delicious, and there’s a lot of them out there.”
