The Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s area is going to be a pretty busy spot tomorrow morning for a while with two events on the public roadways.

The Sunshine Triathlon in the Thorburn Road area is on tomorrow but with some changes over previous years.

Race director John Walsh says they have streamlined things for this year to make the event a little less onerous for the travelling public. Instead of closing both sides of Bennett’s Road until noon, just one side will be closed and only until about 10:30.

“The bike route leaves Healey’s Pond, goes up Thorburn Road toward Portugal Cove, goes on the Tolt Road, comes back Tolt Road to Old Broad Cove Road and then back down Bennett’s Road – so it’s a big square,” he told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan.

There’s also a 5km run in the area tomorrow morning around the same time.
