The Norman’s Cove-Long Cove volunteer fire department has unveiled its new tanker truck.
Their old truck, which had been in service for 15 years, had to be taken out of commission last fall after it didn’t pass inspection.
Chief Mike Hurley says they were able to find a new vehicle, which was originally a road tractor, and converted it to a tanker truck using some of the working parts from their old vehicle.
In total, he says the project cost over $86,000, and so far they have been able to raise over $65,000 from the community – a number which continues to grow.
