The Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation will not be ordering more American liquor following the breakdown of Canada-U.S. trade talks over the weekend.

The NLC says the existing inventory that was placed back on the shelves in December will continue to be sold off, but because a trade deal was not reached the status of ordering more “remains unchanged.”

Speaking on VOCM Open Line with Guest host Linda Swain, opposition leader John Hogan says when there was talk of putting American booze back on the shelves last week, he didn’t think it was a good idea because things can change with President Donald Trump “almost on a daily basis.”

He believes the decline in alcohol sales in Canada is effecting people in the United States and that pressure should continue to be applied.
