A rainfall warning has been issued for the south coast of the island, with some significant amounts expected for Burgeo and Ramea, and lesser amounts elsewhere along the coast.
Environment Canada says 40 to 70 mm of rain is expected between now and Wednesday, with amounts of 90 mm possible in some areas.
Meteorologist David Neil says a slow-moving system will tap into some tropical moisture, bringing significant rainfall to parts of the south coast, He says the rain could come down at times at rates of 10-15 mm an hour.
Port aux Basques and the Burin and Connaigre peninsulas could also see significant amounts, possibly in the range of 30 to 50 mm over the course of next day or so.
