The provincial government is staying mum on when it plans to release the details of an environmental assessment for the Churchill Falls and Gull Island projects.
A non-binding agreement for the megaproject was signed in August. However, to move forward, the deal must survive an upcoming Quebec election, a rigorous environmental assessment, and consultations with Indigenous groups.
Environment and Climate Change Minister Andrea Barbour was notably absent during a scheduled media availability earlier this week.

Cabinet Minister Chris Tibbs says the issue may come up during debate in the House of Assembly next week – but only if the public wants to talk about it.
‘If that’s (the) will of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, it could possibly be. We will take any questions and all questions.”
Tibbs says the assessment is working it’s way through government ahead of the debate.
He says someone from government will provide an update on the matter next week.
