Education Minister Paul Dinn says he’s appalled by video showing an altercation between students at a school in Bay Roberts.

RCMP say they have identified the victim in the video, and both police and the school are supporting him.

In the meantime, the incident is under investigation and police say an update will be provided “when appropriate.”

Minister Dinn calls the video very upsetting.

“Horrendous to see that happening,” Dinn told reporters yesterday. “We’ve been doing a lot of work on safe and caring schools, working with our different stakeholders, and to see that, it’s very upsetting. I understand…the proper authorities are looking into that.”

Meanwhile, a rally in support of the victim is planned for Bay Roberts later today. RCMP are aware of the rally and will have the appropriate resources on site to ensure the safety of students, staff, parents and the general public.
