The city of Corner Brook says it is “optimistic” that a collective agreement can be reached with workers at the Civic Centre.
Earlier this week, CUPE revealed that negotiations with the city had reached an impasse, and that a strike or lockout could happen as early as October 10th.
The city says it has been participating in negotiations and conciliation in “good faith,” and that its proposals are consistent with other agreements recently negotiated with CUPE in the city.
Another bargaining session has been scheduled for later this month.
While council acknowledges that residents have questions about the situation, the city says that out of respect for the bargaining process it will not be commenting further at this time.
