One year after officially taking office, Premier Tony Wakeham is set to deliver his State of the Province Address to the Board of Trade in St. John’s.
Wakeham’s PC Party boosted its seat count from 14 to 21 in last year’s provincial election, earning the party a majority government.
Since that time Wakeham has reached a new agreement with the Quebec government on Churchill Falls, however, he has backtracked on an election promise to take the deal to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador in a referendum.
The Board of Trade says the year ahead has the “potential to shape the province’s future for years to come.”
The premier will deliver his address today at a luncheon at the JAG Soundhouse. VOCM News will be there.
