The mayor of St. John’s says the 12 residents who resided at the Brazil Street apartment complex have now been placed in housing.
The complex was closed last week due to ‘life-safety’ concerns, meaning that the occupants had to get out.
Danny Breen doesn’t know if it will officially reopen, but the property management team and the provincial government are putting together their resources to start working on the building as soon as possible.
“There is a significant amount of work to be done,” says Mayor Breen, “but when the resources are made available, the goal is to “have it back open as soon as possible, and have all those units back in use.”
