The Military gave an update last night on the tragedy at CFB Wainwright in which a fire resulted in the deaths of four soldiers.
The fire occurred late Saturday afternoon local time. Twenty-seven soldiers remain in hospital – 13 in critical condition.
Many “burn nurses” from Ontario are in or on the way to Wainwright to help treat the victims.
Acute Care Alberta is asking reporters not to go to hospitals, and to respect the privacy of the patients and their families.
As for the cause, there is no indication that the natural gas infrastructure had anything to do with the fire. The fire originated as a result of a training exercise on the anti-grenade launching range.
There are three investigations talking place – two by the military and one by a civilian agency. The military now says the investigation that it is in charge of will take a long, long time.
