The Liberal Party has officially named Premier Andrew Furey as the Liberal candidate in the Humber-Gros Morne byelection.
Nominations for the Liberal Party closed at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Former Premier Dwight Ball announced he was stepping down on September 7. Ball, via Twitter, endorsed Furey as the next MHA for the district. The Progressive Conservative candidate is Deer Lake deputy mayor Mike Goosney.
NL Alliance party leader Graydon Pelley has also put his name forward in the byelection. The NDP is expected to bring forward its candidate’s name this week.
Voters in the district of Humber-Gros Morne will go to the polls on October 6.
