Music instructors and administrators are busy putting together specific plans which have to be submitted to and approved by Public Health before they can resume activities. Even though the guidelines released a few days ago are extensive and require considerable thought and planning, but the music community is just happy to be able to get back at that which they love doing.
Kellie Walsh, the founder and artistic director of the Lady Cove Women’s Choir, is also part of a group in the industry that made recommendations to the government.
She says it will be different, but they expect the choir to be singing together again by the end of the month.
Walsh does not see singing as a “super spreader” activity.
She says the most recent research came out a couple of weeks ago from England where a group of people sang happy birthday at 60 to70 decibels and spoke happy birthday at 60 to70 decibels, and it was basically the same in terms of spread.
