Patio Season has been extended in the City of St. John’s. At the weekly council meeting, it was announced that downtown businesses with patios on public property can leave them in place until November 1st instead of September 29th as was originally planned.
Mayor Danny Breen says traffic is moving fairly well in the area and the businesses are still seeing customers. The move will give the City a better idea as to how the pedestrian mall could work if it’s extended further into the season.
The Mayor also spoke on the need to fine-tune the Water Street pedestrian mall in the years to come but says, in the meantime, this gives businesses the opportunity to get some much-needed revenue.
