A large police presence responded to a neighbourhood in the centre of St. John’s Friday afternoon—for the latest in an apparent series of disturbances.
Several RNC units rushed to the area of Elizabeth Avenue between Whiteway Street and Anderson Avenue after 5:00.
A significant number of police vehicles lined the sides of the road, along with the RNC’s Forensic Identification Services.
An ambulance was on the scene for some time before rushing away.

(RNC respond to Cowperthwaite Court on August 6, following reports of gunshots.)
It’s the third major police response to the area since early August, but the nature of the most recent incident is still unknown.
Police were summoned to Cowperthwaite Court on August 6 after shots were fired in what the RNC called a “targeted attack.” A series of events unfolded that culminated in a car crash and the arrest of two people in Dildo.
One of those people—45-year-old Paul Hennebury—was taken into custody a second time following a lengthy standoff in Cowperthwaite Court on August 15.
