The Executive Director of the NL Sexual Assault Crisis and Prevention Centre says more needs to be done to prevent sexual violence in this province.
Sandra McKeller was responding to the arrest of a man in Cowan Heights last Friday following a sexual assault.
McKellar says there is lots of work being done to prevent such incidents from happening, but there is still more to do. She argues that the whole system must be reviewed, and to create consistency with the supports put in place.
She says it’s also important to never blame the victim of the assault. McKellar says there needs to be continued support for victims and to hold perpetrators accountable.
