Health Canada has issued a broad recall for eggs due to possible salmonella contamination.
The contaminated product was sold in this province and Nova Scotia with code dates between September 2 and October 31.
The recall is for eggs produced by Hilly Acres Farm, under several brand names including Compliments, No Name, Great Value, Maritime Pride, Nova Eggs, Farmer John Eyking, and Eyking Delight.
Health Canada says the recalled products should not be consumed and should either be thrown out or returned to the point of purchase. The recall was triggered by company test results, and there have been no reported illnesses due to consumption.
Callers to the VOCM newsroom indicate that when they’ve contacted the point of purchase about the recall, some have been told that the product they have is not included in the recall and is safe for consumption.
Responding to that confusion, Health Canada says to refer to the pictures they have provided on their website of the affected products.
