The City of St. John’s has laid out its plans for winter parking and sidewalk snow clearing.
Vehicles will have to be kept off the street outside the downtown not just during a snow event but for the 24 hours after the snow has stopped.
The city will relay the information by way of various platforms but is also putting the onus on the people to check their website during such occasions.
The winter parking ban will come in as weather dictates with no firm date.
Meanwhile, fewer roads will have sidewalks on both sides cleared as St. John’s rearranges its priority system. The lead for public works, Councillor Ian Froude, says they had too many priority one sidewalks last winter.
Councilor Froude says it’s being done with an eye to connectivity so that a person leaving one sidewalk can access the next one.
