A man was arrested last night in the capital city after he tried to escape from police Saturday night.
Around 9 p.m., RNC attempted to stop the vehicle when the driver fled.
The driver was located a short time later parked behind a residence in west end St. John’s. The 36-year-old man was taken into custody.
He was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while suspended, operating a vehicle with no insurance and failing to transfer ownership of the vehicle.
The man was also charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with driving while prohibited, dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, leaving the scene of an accident, breaches of court release order and conditions of his probation order.
The vehicle was seized and the man was held for court.
