It’s not unusual to find an issue in the taxi industry when it comes to any kind of collapse in the economy, but one cab company says the pandemic has been the ultimate economic challenge.
George Murphy, business manager with Jiffy Cabs, says it’s been a lot for cab drivers between the constantly changing health guidelines, drivers quitting out of fear, and the economy coming to a crawl.
Murphy says at one point they had only 16 cars on the road, but things are improving. He says business is back to about 70 to 75 per cent of what it was.
It’s still not where it was pre-COVID, but Murphy says the challenge is still there to gain the extra business to keep the drivers moving on the road.
