RNC officers chased down a suspect last night after an armed robbery in the centre city area of St. John’s.
They arrested a 25-year-old man not far from Traders at the corner of Stamp’s Lane and Freshwater Road at about 9:00 p.m.
Traders sells jewelry and electronics among other things.
People in the area say the man was running from the scene with a backpack.
RNC had closed off a section of Stamps Lane as they investigated.
The man faces several firearms offences in addition to armed robbery and breach of probation. He was held overnight to appear in court this morning.
