The federal government’s ban on cruise ships in Canadian waters and pleasure craft in northern waters has been extended for another year.
Federal Minister of Transport, Omar Alghabra made the announcement yesterday.
The ban has been extended to the end of February 2022.
It includes pleasure craft and passenger vessels carrying more than 12 people entering Arctic coastal waters on the Labrador coast, Nunatsiavut, and Nunavik.
All cruise ships carrying more than 100 people are prohibited from operating in Canadian waters.
