A man who died in a boating accident off the coast of Labrador has been identified as the brother of MP Yvonne Jones.
Jones confirmed that her 51-year-old brother Keith Rumbolt of Lodge Bay died in the boating mishap Sunday afternoon off Pleasure Harbour.
“Keith was a friend to all those that he met his kind and caring ways spread to every corner of the world that he touched. His friends and family were very important to him and he cherished those relationships. He grew up on the land and on the water. He was a master navigator, a skilled hunter and the happiest moments of his life was spent doing the things he loved with the people he loved. He truly was a Son of Labrador and he was very proud of his Homeland.” -Statement from MP Yvonne Jones
Rumbolt was a fisherman for over 30 years and was the former Mayor of Lodge Bay.
Rumbolt also served on the Battle Harbour Development Association, the Labrador Fisherman’s Union Shrimp Company, the NunatuKavut Community Council and many other organizations.
