Yesterday’s storm system is going to hang around east of the Avalon for the next few days but there are no significant amounts of snow in the forecast. Instead, the wind will be taking a toll.
The Avalon got close to 30 cm of snow yesterday, last night and this morning with Gander and Corner Brook getting about the same. Grand Falls-Windsor got around 20cm.
Julianna Paul, a meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says there will be significant wave action along the entire northeast coast for the next few days.
She says to expect high waves and pounding surf from St. Anthony down to the Southern Shore especially during high tide and on Friday.
Conception Bay South has felt the effects of pounding surf over the past few weeks, especially on the breakwater in Long Pond which was heavily damaged.
