RCMP are investigating two separate house fires in the Happy Valley-Goose Bay area earlier this week.
Firefighters were called to a home on Park Drive around 10:00 p.m. on Monday.
The fire, in a basement apartment, was extinguished by the occupant before police arrived. The resident was taken to hospital for precautionary medical treatment.
The fire, which is believed to be suspicious, caused minor damage that was contained within the home.
Police were called to another fire hours later at an apartment complex on Hamilton River Road. Firefighters attended the scene around 4:30 a.m. and evacuated the four-unit building.
The apartment building was extensively damaged and the cause is under investigation.
At this time the two fires are not believed to be linked.
