People on the Avalon Peninsula and in eastern Newfoundland are wondering where the wild weather came from yesterday.
Light snow was predicted, but that turned into a 20 cm blizzard.
People are digging out after that sudden snowstorm began crippling the region by the time the afternoon rolled around.
The snow began around mid-morning and did not stop. Metro police were advising people to stay off the roads.
The winds began easing up overnight but roads are snow-covered with slippery sections in many areas.
Schools in central are closed for a second straight morning because of that same system, which is causing poor driving conditions.
Another 5 cm is expected in most areas today with winds around 40-50 km/h with gusts up to 80 km/h in the Clarenville area and southern Avalon.
