Burin Peninsula RCMP arrested a known suspended driver for drug-impaired driving after pulling him over on Monday.
An officer noticed the person operating a truck on Route 210 just south of Marystown around lunchtime that day. The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but the truck crossed the centre line and went into the oncoming lane of traffic, veering onto the gravel shoulder of the road.
The driver locked his brakes, creating a cloud of dust and causing a minor collision between the patrol car and the rear of the truck. Neither the driver nor the officer was injured.
The man, who showed signs of drug impairment, was arrested and taken to the Burin Peninsula Health Centre to provide a blood sample.
Police are awaiting the results to determine if charges will be laid. The man’s vehicle was seized and impounded.
