A special parade of sorts is being held today in honour of the province’s remaining World War II veterans.
Twelve veterans will be taking part in a special motorcade that will take them to A Night at the USO at the Royal Canadian Legion in Pleasantville for a private event.
The veterans — both men and women — range in age from 95 to 102 years. They are among the 80 remaining World War II veterans in Newfoundland and Labrador. Among them is Rod Deon, who stormed the beach at Normandy, turns 100 today.
