A St. John’s man accused of forcing the evacuation of Atlantic Place twice in one afternoon last week has been released on bail.
24-year-old David Noftall was seen having a dispute with sheriff’s officers shortly before the first alarm sounded around 2 p.m. last Tuesday. That forced the evacuation of hundreds from the courts and the rest of the building for almost a half-hour.
MInutes after everyone returned, the alarm was pulled again, sending officers onto Water Street in search of the suspect.
Noftall was taken into custody a short time later in front of the lockup at Supreme Court, where he was immediately escorted and charged.

Bail conditions include an order not to enter Atlantic Place without first notifying court staff or sheriff’s officers.
Noftall was recently convicted of threatening to kill a police officer after showing up outside RNC headquarters armed with a knife in October of 2019. He was sentenced to four months.
He’s due back in court on August 18th.
