Students at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus are outraged by announced increases in tuition fees.
Over the next five years, the provincial government is phasing out its operating grant to MUN. The university, in turn, is imposing a series of tuition hikes over a period of four years beginning in the fall of 2022.
The Grenfell Campus Student Union calls the move a bold attack on accessible post-secondary education.
The students union says it has been an incredibly difficult year and a half, and the decision to make economic realities of the pandemic harder on students and families shows a lack of empathy.
GCSU says the decision will impact everyone and be felt the hardest by the poorest in the community.
