There’s a tragic end to the search for a 22-year-old Innu woman from Labrador. The body of Faith Rich, who went missing from Natuashish a little over a month ago, was found yesterday.
RCMP confirm remains were found last evening in a wooded area on the edge of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office is part of the investigation. Police say the identity has not yet been confirmed, but Simeon Tshakapesh says they belong to Rich.
The young woman was at one time a foster child of Simeon Tsakapesh in the former Innu community of Davis Inlet. He says it’s very hard to learn that she was not found alive.
As well, a young person has drowned in the area of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. VOCM News will have more details as they become available. Area MHA Perry Trimper says that losing two young members of the community is a lot to take in.
He says the loss is felt by everyone in the community. He says the community is likely in a state of paralysis.
