The province is sending seven forest firefighters to Thunder Bay, Ontario to help knock down forest fires in the region.

The firefighters will join other personnel from across the Atlantic region to form a 17-person sustained action crew.

The deployment is expected to last two weeks.

The province says adequate forest fire-fighting resources remain to manage forest fires here, including four waterbombers, several helicopters, and staff throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
