One of three ships anchored in Newfoundland waters due to COVID outbreaks has left the province, while another anchored in Conception Bay is scheduled to leave today.
The vessel that had been anchored in Bay Bulls departed Wednesday.
As of yesterday, all 46 active COVID cases reported in the province were connected with those ships, with two crew members in hospital.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says it’s not unusual for ships to divert to Newfoundland and Labrador when a medical emergency, like a COVID outbreak, occurs.
She offered her recognition of the work done by Eastern Health staff who have gone “above and beyond” in handling the situation.
