A 67-year-old man is dead following a collision between a tractor trailer and an SUV on the Bay d’Espoir Highway on Friday afternoon.
The accident happened at about 4:30 on Route 360 about 60 kilometres south of the Trans Canada Highway.
RCMP say the transport truck was rounding a turn and crossed into the oncoming lane where it collided with the SUV. The driver of the SUV was killed on impact and a female passenger, who was trapped inside, was removed by firefighters using the jaws of life.
She was rushed to hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the transport was not injured.
The investigation continues.
