A young person had their ATV seized for dangerous diving in Harbour Grace this week.

Around 10 p.m. on Monday, RCMP responded to reports of dangerous ATV operations in Victoria.

Officers saw a youth driving an ATV on the roadway and attempted to stop the driver. However, police say the operator repeatedly drove by the police vehicle on the ATV, waving at the officer and refusing to stop. The youth was identified, but police did not pursue the driver in the interest of public safety.

Police later visited the driver’s home, spoke with their parents and seized the ATV. A number of tickets were also issued, including one for dangerous operation of an ATV.

Harbour Grace RCMP say there has been an increase in reports of illegal ATV activity in the area.
