The province says it is part of ongoing discussions between the federal government and the provinces and territories on proof of vaccination.
The country’s two most populous provinces, Ontario and Quebec, have already announced their plans for so-called “vaccine passports.”
The Department of Health says this province is collaborating with Ottawa on a federally-mandated program that will help Newfoundlanders and Labradorians prove their vaccination status when travelling abroad.
Almost 86 per cent of all eligible Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have at least one dose of the COVID vaccine and nearly 74 per cent now have two doses.
