There is great interest in municipal politics in three of the largest towns in Conception Bay North.
There is a two-way race for Mayor in Carbonear – incumbent Frank Butt is being challenged by David Kennedy. Sixteen people have put their names forward for council.
They are Bill Bowman, Amanda Dowden, Danielle Doyle, Paul Dunphy, Mike George, Phillip Hurley, Vic Jenkins, Tom Mullins, Ray Noel, Chris O’Grady, Lorne Power, Kelsey Reichel, Malcolm Seymour, Sam Slade, Peter Snow and Michael Tucker.
In neighbouring Harbour Grace, there are four people running for Mayor: incumbent Don Coombs, former mayor Terry Barnes, Kathy Tetford and Sonia Williams, with fifteen people running for council.
Christine Fahey, Lee Rogers, Keith Whalen, Sharon Reynolds, Brendan Chafe, Adam Sheppard, James Dwyer, Gordon Stone, Paul Fitzgerald, Randy Wrice, Keith Skinner, Lyda Byrne, Brian Hargreaves, Shawn Vaters and Frank Martin make up the slate.
In Bay Roberts, Walter Yetman has been acclaimed as mayor with twelve candidates running for council.
Silas Badcock, Perry Bowering, Danny Butler, Randy Butler, Frank Deering, Jamie Deering, Dean Franey, Billy King, Ross Petten, Edmund Pottle, Geoffrey Seymour and George Simmons have all come forward.
