Five new confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being reported in the province today leading to a number of public advisories in Bonavista and St. John’s.
Three cases are being reported in the Eastern Health region. One case is a contact of a previous known case, while two are related to international travel.
One case in Central Health is related to travel in Canada, as is another single case in the Western Health region.
One presumptive positive has also been identified in Western Health.
With three new recoveries since the last public advisory, there are now 29 active cases of the virus in the province.

Public Health is asking people who visited a number of businesses on certain dates and times to arrange for COVID testing due to potential exposure to the virus.
- Foodland on Confederation Drive in Bonavista on Monday August 23rd from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.
- Bonavista PharmaChoice on Confederation Drive on Thursday, August 26th from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m.
- The Rec Room at the Avalon Mall in St. John’s on Friday, August 27th from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
- The Avalon Mall Cineplex on Friday August 27th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Get Air on Thorburn Road in St. John’s on Sunday, August 29th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
- Jumping Bean on Elizabeth Avenue on Wednesday September 1st from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
People who are experiencing even just one of the symptoms is asked to contact 811 to arrange for testing.
Symptoms include:
- Fever (including chills/sweats)
- Cough (new or worsening)
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Runny, stuffy or congested nose (not related to seasonal allergies or other known causes/conditions)
- Sore throat or difficulty swallowing
- Headache
- Acute loss of sense of smell or taste
- Unusual fatigue, lack of energy
- New onset of muscle aches
- Loss of appetite
- Vomiting or diarrhea for more than 24 hours
- Small red or purple spots on hands and/or feet (this symptom applies to children only)
