It may come as a surprise, but there was a fairly significant earthquake off the southeast coast of the Avalon Peninsula one week ago.
Earthquakes Canada recorded a 4.2 magnitude earthquake southeast of Trepassey on Saturday, August 28th.
The earthquake originated approximately 18 km underground. Another tremblor occurred off the coast of Labrador just a few days earlier at the same depth.
