Tuesday is the last day for nominations in the September 28 municipal elections. Many towns and cities have already closed nominations, but Tuesday is Zero Hour.

There were several mayoral acclamations in the metro region, which came as a surprise to many but some municipal politicians say social media has converted the job as councilor or mayor from part-time to full-time.

Deatra Walsh, director of communications for Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, says they won’t be sure how the numbers will play out until after Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Walsh reminds voters that mail-in balloting is available in more cases this time than at any time in the past.
