RCMP are highlighting some outstanding missing children’s cases across the country including one from this province on this, National Missing Children’s Day.
Among those cases is the disappearance of the O’Brien boys of Torbay two decades ago. The three brothers, 14-year-old Adam, 11-year-old Trevor and 4-year-old Mitchell, went missing after a visit with their father, Gary O’Brien, in November of 1996.
O’Brien and the boys’ mother, Diana, were in a bitter dispute and he had told her that he was not bringing them back to her.
Police then discovered that Gary O’Brien, an electrician, had set a booby trap, rigging his home to explode with the use of two propane tanks, if anyone entered.
The case remains an open file with the RNC, and RCMP Corporal Jolene Garland is hoping that in profiling the case along with others across Canada, tips may come forward.
