The largest union in the province supports mandatory vaccination for public sector workers in principle but says such a policy requires significant thought and consultation.
New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs has said 10-15 per cent of the eligible population in that province likely will not agree to vaccination under any circumstances.
Premier Andrew Furey did not give details, but did say on Tuesday that they are working on mandatory vaccine for all in the public service.
Jerry Earle, president of NAPE, has spoken with other unions about it and says such a policy must include provision for exemptions.
Furey is aiming on finalizing the policy next week but Earle doubts government can do it in such a short time frame.
