A lot of people on Bell Island are without a doctor today after one of three physicians on the island moved away. That leaves two to serve a population of 2500 and one of those physicians will be gone next month.
Ken Kavanagh, a community activist, has written government and Eastern Health asking for them to do exit interviews with doctors who leave not only Bell Island but all areas of the province to garner information on just why they are leaving.
Kavanagh is also asking the authorities to look into the working conditions at the Walter Templeman Hospital.
He acknowledges that such a request may tick some people off but so be it. Kavanagh wonders if there are issues with the administration of the hospital.
