The Newfoundland Growlers ECHL franchise begins play a little over two weeks from now on the road before their home opener at Mile One.

James Melindy, a resident of the Goulds, has signed on for a third season.

Now a firefighter with St. John’s Regional Fire Department, Melindy is hoping to see a run similar to the first year when the Growlers won the Kelly Cup.

Melindy hopes they’ll have large turnouts at Mile One given that last season was cancelled outright.
