Bowring Park’s value as a place for quiet time and contemplation has been enhanced with the grand opening of a labyrinth today.
Due to poor weather this morning, the formalities were moved inside to the new pool house, followed by a ribbon-cutting at the site just west of the amphitheater.
The project was a partnership between the City of St. John’s, Bowring Park Foundation and the Cahill Family Foundation.
The labyrinth has been described as a new mental health space in the park, giving people a quiet space to reflect and connect with nature.
It consists of a flat surface with a pathway that users can follow to get to its center, and then back to the exit.
It cost about $200,000 to construct, with the Cahill Family Foundation donating $125,000 of that.
The rest was split between the city and park foundation.
Today, members of City Council, in partnership with the Bowring Park Foundation, and the Cahill Family Foundation, marked the official opening of the Labyrinth in Bowring Park.https://t.co/6XGdF0ONu8 pic.twitter.com/rItOXA0yQs
