The Atlantic Groundfish Council and Ocean Choice International have scheduled a virtual news conference for today to discuss the Redfish fishery in the area known as Unit 1.
According to DFO, the redfish fishery in Unit 1 consists of two species – the deepwater redfish and the Acadian redfish in the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Laurentian Channel.
The quota for the 2022-23 fishing season is a total of 4,500 tonnes which will consist of a 2,000 tonne index fishery and a 2,500 tonne experimental redfish quota.
Today’s news conference will take place at noon.
