A Newfoundlander who has gone on an amazing weight-loss journey is looking for public support in an online contest.
Dave Murphy, 45, suffered serious injuries in a stabbing back in 1994.
The incident affected his mobility and caused his weight to balloon to nearly 400 pounds.
Murphy, who now lives in Alberta, says he suffered PTSD and depression for nearly 20 years before making the decision to turn his life around.
He says the turning point came when his young daughter wanted to race him home from the park.
He recalled the look on his daughter’s face when he told her he couldn’t run. That prompted him to make changes, vowing to lose 100 pounds in a year.
Overall, he’s lost 170 pounds over the last two years.)
Murphy is enrolled in the Legendary Dad Bod contest.
Online voting for the Group Finals end Oct. 21st.
Quarterfinal voting runs from October 22-28, while Semi-Final voting runs from Oct. 29-Nov. 4.
Final voting runs from Nov. 4-11.
