Police are usually on the lookout for drivers who break the rules, but this weekend, they will be stopping some who go by the book.
RCMP have partnered with the STAND for Hannah Foundation in the promotion of safe driving.
Starting today and continuing through the weekend, police will be patrolling throughout the province for violations and impaired drivers, as per usual, but will be paying special attention to those who are operating a vehicle in a safe manner.
Motorists who are following the speed limit, wearing seat belts, driving free of distractions and in an overall safe manner, may be among those who are stopped by police and rewarded with a gift card, provided by the Stand for Hannah Foundation for their safe driving practices.
The foundation was created in the memory of Hannnah Thorne, who was killed in a motor vehicle collision as two men who were street racing.
The safe driving campaign was started by RCMP Cst. John Collins of the Holyrood detachment who, on Father’s Day 2020, gave a couple of safe drivers a gift card in memory of his father and father-in-law.
